Resolved Question: Property owners/landlords, your take on this?

In April I went to look at a woman's property to see if I'd want to move my RV there (and get out of an RV park!! :( ) We basically both said OK. She seemed to really want me to be the one to rent. It has been like pulling teeth to get any info out of her all along. I had agreed to pay her 650.00 a month IF she could supply me with all amenities that the Park did. Sewage, Water, Electricity, Comcast and WIFI. She said she would. Now almost a 6 weeks later and my date for leaving the Park looming. (I gave my 30 day notice after asking the woman if she was sure everything would be up and running when I arrived.) I have a big RV. She was going to have a tree cut and fence removed and another fence pulled back so I could make it to the area I'd be parking. So far she has not put in a sewage line, (she says she will in a couple of months and that she'll have a pump truck come once a month to empty my black tank (toilet). Now I have DSL where I am now, as I enjoy watching movies online etc. Her place is in the country so no DSL...but she has Comcast Internet and said I could pick up her signal and piggyback on that. (then later she mentioned the woman that was still living on the property said "occasionally I can pick up your signal" So basically that means the WIFI is iffy. That is two things that she promised that don't seem to be being met. The woman living there then was supposed to be gone no later than first week of May then it was second week of May. I emailed the woman and asked her if the woman was going to be off the property before I moved. She just replied that the trailer could either be "moved aside" or hauled off. Again I asked her if the woman had vacated. No answer. I had one RV mover go out and measure to make sure I could get onto the property easily and no damage to my RV. He said "If the tree and fence come out yes." Since he will be out of town at the time I move he gave me the name of another mover. Well this guy was saying to tarp the tree and then he could "squeeze" the RV by it. Tarped or not it will cause damage and I said so. So he quit saying he didn't want to answer for the liability. The land owner thought I should 'tarp' my RV! You know how HUGE an tarp it would need? I don't have money to toss around believe me!! So I had to call around and rounded up another guy. She had said He would come today and then when I emailed, said "No it is tomorrow." (I have one week left before my leaving date as I said). I've asked her to measure what length of hose I would need to connect to water. No action on her part yet, she said she would get to it this weekend....I can't be sure of that due to her past actions. She said her electrician could make me a 30 amp extension cord for the price of parts. I called him and asked him about it. He said "I can't tell you much as I'd have to wait until you get there and then measure how much cord you will need." I said, but I'll be without electricity (which means no water for drinking washing and toilet, no microwave. plus I have pets that need caring for) and told him that and he said "Well you won't have to wait too long."so now I'm pricing cords all over town and RV cords are expensive. I told the woman I needed to know the length from the connection so I could either buy or order a cord, that is when she told me her electrician could make me one. (she even suggested I, me could make one!! wtf) Ok this is probably where everyone will yell "STUPID" but I gave her a $650.00 deposit earlier on(with of course it being a deposit I would get it back when I left) so she could use it for getting the promised work done. I ordered Dish Network so I could have TV (no definite appointment made at this point) tho the agreement was I'd get replacement for Comcast that I have at the Park. Since I'll be giving up my DSL I figured that money could go towards the Dish.) and I'd get the fast internet from piggy backing on her Comcast. OK, my question is after my long and convoluted question is What if I decide she is far too 'iffy' to want as my 'land lady' can I demand the $650. back? I gave her a check with deposit for rental written on it. She is a Realtor well known in the area I live in, so I'm thinking she can't pull something dirty and refuse to give me the money back since the transaction did not go as agreed to. (I would not hesitate to go to her place of employment and report her there if she refused) Be kind and just give me your knowledgeable advice on this mess!! I know I didn't present it very well. Thanks justwondering. Good info. No, I just felt since she is well known that me advertising the fact she is bascially ripping me off, is something she would not like.  more

Voting Question: am I wrong to feel pissed?

I Joined the Air-force and moved out of the house when I was 18, I got married and soon realized my 89 Honda was just not going to cut for the both of us and we needed to get a second vehicle. I mentioned to my parents about what was going on and they stated that they were buying a brand new 2008 truck and that my dad would give me his old one. I was really excited and surprised that they were doing that because they have never helped financially before, growing up I never received an allowance, help buying my first car, I had a full time job at 15 working nights that paid for all my school supplies and clothes. Don't get me wrong I am very grateful for the food and roof over my head but that was it, I have never even received 5 dollars to go to the movies in my entire life from them. Anyway two years passed by, me and my wife got a divorce, she took my old car and I kept the truck. Recently I got orders for Korea for a year, so I decided to take leave and drive back home to spend time with parents before shipping off; I mentioned to my parents I would need to store my truck because I can’t take it to Korea. Well yesterday my dad says to me that he will be driving my truck every day to work because he does not want to put the miles on his brand new truck, his work is about 2 hours away, I really did feel this was a little messed up but I didn’t want to tell them no, I mean they are my parents what do I say to them? Now today my dad blindsides me and says they are now in fact going to take the truck back from me and that I need to sign the title back over to them because they want to use it for when they go camping with the RV. Please keep in mind both of my parents are very wealthy, both drive vehicles well into the 35k price range. My dad didn’t even flinch when saying this; he said it like I should be completely okay with this and started showing me what loans I can get for buying a new truck. I just got half of my stuff taken from me from my cheating wife, she left me completely broke with only my computer, a futon and my truck. I have been completely stressed out for the last 3 months trying to get this divorce finalized and also get everything in order to move to a foreign country for the first time all at the same time, and now I got this going on, there is no way I can afford any car at this state in my life and now I’m freaking out because now I don’t even know If I have a car when I come back as well.. What should I do?  more

Resolved Question: Please help with this math problem?

On October 9, 2006, U.S. News & World Report discussed resale value of Recreational Vehicles. Jim Clinnin purchased a used RV with 19,501 miles for $57,484. Originally the RV sold for $80,000 with a residual value of $10,000. After subtracting the residual value, depreciation allowance per mile was $0.88. Voting Question: Lowball marital assets sale before divorce is filed?

My estranged husband and I bought an RV to live in full time not long before he left me for a woman half his age. He told me that he was going to let me have the RV when we got a divorce since it was my home, and he had rented and furnished an apt for him and his new "family." The title on the RV was in both of our names with an "or" not an "and" between our names. Whenever we argued, he would threaten to come take the RV, and sell my home for whatever price he could get and just split the proceeds. Upon the advice of a couple of people, I went to the DMV and had the title changed to just my name so that he couldn't do that to me. Last week, he decided he needed money and changed his mind on letting me have the RV and told me that now I could "buy him out" for about 20% of the RV's value. I told him that I needed to think about it, since it would create a debt I didn't want to have, because he couldn't keep his d**k in his pants and be faithful. This past weekend I told him that I would agree to do it if he put in the divorce agreement that I was not to be financially responsible for a car title loan, and any insurance, towing, etc related costs on the uninsured car he drove until he got drunk and drove it at 65mph into a parked car, which still had my name on the title along with his. He agreed to this for a day. The next day, he called and wanted to know if I had gotten a loan yet so that I could give him money. The bank wasn't even open that day due to it being a federal holiday! I told him no, it was a holiday, and I wanted to see our agreement in writing before I gave him money. He got upset, said that all bets were off and I had commited a felony by changing removing his name from the title and that he was gonna make sure that everything we owned would be sold and money divided 50-50. My question is this: No papers have been filed yet. A friend of mine suggested I sell my RV to him for a very lowball price, which would lower marital assests considerably for the divorce. Then after the divorce is final, he would let me buy back the RV for what I sold it for, plus a small profit for him. Is there anything illegal about doing this, or can it be used against me in any way in our divorce? More often than not, he has been anything but above-board in his dealings with me since he left and not even paid back money he borrowed to buy gas and food several times that I loaned him, which put me in the red.  more

Resolved Question: Does this make sense and would you think it was for real if you read it. Would i be short selling myself or?

Okay so I have been detailing vehicles for sometime now and never really actually had a real ad posted online. I have had alot of customers just never any repeat customers. So I have decided to start my mobile wash and detail service with a new kick. I am changing my service as an Eco Safe and Friendly service for your Car & RV for regular scheduled washing weekly and bi weekly services available. My new Mobile Wash & Detail service is waterless, it is meant for new and well-maintained vehicles that are light to moderately dirty. I will use a spray on biodegradable solution that is friendly to the environment and helps conserve water during water restrictions. Last night I was really tired and was online updating my written documents that i had written months ago. This was on myspace and I accidently erased everything oh was i fusterated, I then had to restart everything from scratch. I feel like it happened for a reason since like out of no where i wrote this idea out that in my mind sounds pretty cool, and I would seriously call right away for a discount like you will read soon. My question is after you read what i wrote please let me know if it makes sense, have i repeated myself more than once than than needed. Does it sound like a scam. Have you ever heard of anything like this,? I mean I honestly know there are contracted accounts with customers and they receive discounts but are they actually like what i listed. what I am offering, do you think that would bring me alot more business. I know i will be losing money but also on the flip side without the referrals I wouldn't have what came my way in the first place so why not reward my future customers with the following, When potential customers are reviewing my future ad after reading the introduction about my business they will be asked to Inquire by email about our discounted rate for your very first detail and wash. Now when I wrote this last night out of bfe I figured hey if i could get people to email me about my discounted rates. Then I could send them an email back with this info Thanks for inquiring about our repeat customer discounted rates. We offer weekly or bi weekly dicounted car wash rates suited for your appointed needs. If you're interested in our discounted rate for $30.00 off your very first scheduled detail we only ask that you sign a contract to become one of our repeat satisfied customers. Not only will you receive $30.00 off your very first detail, on top of that you will receive $15.00 off the innitial car/rv wash rate for each and every wash scheduled afterwards. Note: With any extra services added to the detail we subtract $30.00 off the final price. Now if you're interested in becoming one of our repeat satisfied customers, we only ask that you schedule your first wash at the innitial car wash rate. If you like our service we will then have you sign a contract for our weekly or bi weekly scheduled wash service. Automatically you will receive a $15.00 off discounted rate for each scheduled wash. Our contracts last up to one month, so no need to feel that our contract is long term. If you wish to keep the contract we will then renew it with the same offer with one added bonus a free car wash every end of the month, good towards your next scheduled wash. Then automatically your $15.00 discounted rate repeats until the next month comes around and you get the same offer when you renew. We also offer a $0.00 innitial cost good towards your first wash including all your other washes whether it be weekly or bi weekly The terms are when we come to your location all we ask is that you invite anyone you think may be interested in our weekly or bi weekly services. We will do a short demonstration on your vehicle once we sign a contract with 2 or more of your friends, family etc. We then will not expect a dime out of you ever. The only catch is if they no longer need our services then you have 30 days to find a replacement for each party. This only applies if you only got 2 people signed with us all together. If you have 3 or more still with us even after we lost two contract accounts, then your still getting our free service. The wash process works out like this when we are at your location for your scheduled first wash we expect there to be at least 2 or more cars there for us to wash. If they want a detail we will have to schedule with them at there location on another scheduled date. Since this is only for car/rv washing only. After we wash their cars we will then park them side by side with the key in their door letting our potential new customers know their vehicle is now ready. Our service accepts cash or checks payable to Same thing with anyone you referred, they are eligible for the same service we are offering you. Of course when we start an agreement with them we will then start scheduling our wash service at their location instead of your location and even though they are no longer o  more

Let me give more time to look around other stores and cars. I'll think more. When I decide to buy this car, I will call you. Thanks for your help. Me : Ah, so how much is the minimum? or...Ah, how much could you offer to me? or.... Ah, how much is the lowest price that I can drive out? or...... Could you suggest the lowest price? or.........I know it's very hard to get a discount but may I get a discount a little more than the offered price? Resolved Question: How much would a house like this cost in Iowa next summer?

My brother and i will both be done with college this spring, starting jobs where we would both make $15 per hour. I have a $300 car payment for another 2 years, and he will need a car within a year, of a similar payment. We want to get a small house here in Iowa, area code 50613, that has a large workspace such as either a very large garage, or a seperate workshop, perhaps made from a pole barn. Neither of us plan on raising families there, so a 2-bedroom house with 1 bath and a small kitchen, just a bachelor pad, would fit quite well. We'd like to be near town, but rural enough to not have to worry too much about neighbors, since we've grown up in the country and are used to being able to shoot firearms, and work on our cars without worrying about leaving a tool laying out, for a passing kid to steal if we were in town. Darn tool-stealing kids. Honestly, i think we would both live in a large RV if the price was right, and if we could find an empty lot for dirt cheap to build a simple workshop on. We have welding equipment, an air compressor, stuff that just doesn't fit into a small house's garage in the middle of town. Our parents are selling the acreage to move into a condo in town, and my brother and i cannot afford the huge house or property it's on, when the large workshop and rural setting are all we really need. I thought about maybe just living in an apartment in town, and renting somebody's unused barn outside of town, for my brother to rebuild a muscle car, and myself to build a dune buggy. Okay so this is a ton of extra info... Any advice or thoughts on how much we could get a small rural house for?  more

Resolved Question: RV antifreeze vs Regular glycol antifreeze, what's the difference?

I am wondering what the difference is between RV antifreeze and regular glycol antifreeze. I have a outdoor woodboiler which is corrosion proofed with a boiler additive, but I need to use an antifreeze incase of the fire going out, power outage, etc. The boiler heats up to 180 deg and is an open system so there is no pressure to deal with. On Peak's website they say the RV antifreeze can be used to protect heating systems. So I am wondering if I can use it to provide freeze protection? The price difference between RV antifreeze $2-3/gal, regular glycol antifreeze $8-10/gal and Cryotec boiler antifreeze $12-14/gal. Thanks for the help Mike  more

Resolved Question: Finance Question - Don't know where to start.?

Your neighbor is buying a new recreational vehicle (RV). If he buys the RV for cash, the price is $45,000. Alternatively, he could buy the RV for monthly payments of $750 at the end of each month for 72 months. At what discount rate, will the two options be equally attractive (using monthly compounding)?  more

Resolved Question: Help? I got snookered on Craigslist. I need to know what to do next?

I put a deposit to hold an old RV that was a few hour's drive away, $300, the price was $1900. I paid by Western Union and he said to use a password "motorhome". I went down there, and when I got to the house address he gave me, I couldn't find the RV, or him, so I called him and he did answer and said he was across town, and that he'd be right there, but he never came nor answered another phone call. I called Western Union at 4:30 pm on 5-19-08 and their recording said it had been picked up by this man a 7:15PM on 5-19-08, so Ipresumed he must be on the East Coast. I called the police and they said they could do nothing, as it was a civil matter. In the ad, this guy had listed his phone number, we'd spoken several times! But when I asked the police if they could run a reverse check they said that was illegal. ??? Well, I ran one myself online for free, ran an Intelius report and found this man and his AKA and address phone and emila. NOW WHAT DO I DO? I just got home, I couldnt' research him until I did, and I can't travel because of work, it's 2-3 hour drive. Now if I call the police will they say it's a civil matter and I have to sue, he DID sound kind of scary brusque the last time I spoke to him, he couldn't get my money without the proper spelling of my name and so he said that he needed me to spell my last name or the deal couldn't go through and not to screw with him...which kind of freaked me out at the last minute he turned sort of evil, then disappeared. I'm a single mom, I just want the police to handle this, but I don't knwo how to go about it so that they don't blow it off?  more

I am currently planning a trip to travel around USA and Canada from August to December this year. I will be flying to Vancouver. Then from LA to Miami. Then from Toronto to UK. I am thinking of using trains to travel in between there is about 6 to 8 weeks between each flight. What sorts of prices is train travel? Times varied? Good availability? Resolved Question: Install Converter from 120 Volt to 12 Volt in New Construction Home?

Just thinking thing over. Want to install a 120 volt AC to12 volt DC converter, as the ones found in most RV's. The 12 volt would be used power 12 volt light fixtures as one found in RV's, and Marine crafts. The 12 volts could be used with a solar panel. The solar panel would be used to charge a 12 volt battery(s), and the 12 volt battery could be used to power the lights during the night. I thought of using resistors for each light within the low voltage lighting electrical wires to control even distribution of lighting. Planning on setting up 12 volt electrical boxes in each room, and adding extra 12 bolt electical boxes in living room and dining room and kitchen and laundry room. This would allow lighting for walkway and task lighting and backup lighting when electrical power goes out or gets to pricey. With the price of electicity and gas going up, I thought that this would be a way of lighting my home and saving utility money. Here are a few of the 12 volt lights. http://www.outdoorgb.com/c/12v_lighting/ A 12 volt light bulb range from 4 watts to 25 watts. The 12 volt distribution panel http://www.bestconverter.com/assets/images/Parallax/Distropanels/50012P24brochure.pdf can as a battery charger when needed. This panel is rated a 50 amps. A few more 12 volt recessed lights http://www.swego.com/12_volt_recessed.htm mostly rated at 10 watts and these are xenon lights. The electrical lines would be anywhere from 10 feet to the longest run of 70 feet. The electrical wire would be 12/2 CL2 rated for low voltage wires. The 12 volt distribution panel will power the lights and can be used to charge a 12 volt battery when needed. I would then add a toggle switch to shut of power to solar panel when not in use. The reason I choose the 12 volt distribution panel because this system had the built in led lights for the blown fuse detection and the fuses are a safety feature in case things go bad with lights or 12 volt fixtures. There for twelve of the 10 watt recessed lights will add up to 120 watts. 120 watts divided by 12 volts will equal to 10 amps. This would still leave 40 amps for landscape light or other 12 volt lights. There are options on adding 12 volt fans, and 12 volt appliances. If needed I would add extra auxillary 12 volt transformer to power the heaver amperage fixtures .... etc... I'm thinking this setup would pay for it self with a short time once in use. what do you think? What do you think of this setup? Any questions, let me know.  more

Resolved Question: 2003 Jeep RUB VS 2008 Jeep X?

Ok here in vegas a dealer has an 2003 Rubicon for sale. 21,000 milesw/ tires on it. (they looked brand new so i wouldn't have to put any new tires on it)They want $18k for it. Alittle pricey cuz i once had an 05 with 13000 miles on it and purchased it for $15,700. I have no yet haggled the price with them but to me the jeep is worth $14,500 or $15000. This jeep looks BRAND NEW. We are thinking an older couple owned it and towed it behind an RV...(we looked at the carfax and the body) Now there is another dealer, who has a basic 2008 Wranger X for $17,900 (its in an ad and they confirmed it) it also said $219 for 72 months which they also confirmed it was for purchase and not lease) kind of hard to believe. Now i test drove one and i thought it was a little to big (im used to the smaller model) the interior is gorgous thou. But i'm an off-road type of girl so i would need to save money to put a lift and tires on it.My question is which jeep would you get? any advice, opinons? the link to the 2003 JEEP RUB http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?rdpage=thumb&car_id=243217588&dealer_id=499017&car_year=2003&model=WRANGLER&num_records=100&systime=&make2=&start_year=2003&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=25&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&make=JEEP&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceASC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceASC&address=89131&advanced=y&end_year=2009&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=11 also if i end up w the 03, i would prolly most likely rip out everything inside like the seats and carpet and put new stuff it in to make it look more like the new 08 interior that i love so much so thats why im torn between the two lol  more

Resolved Question: Why aren't there any protesters against the high cost of gas and fuel?

Every week someone is protesting something, but I have yet seen any protesters against the high cost of fuel. Here in California, desiel was $4.29 on last Sunday. Today it is now $4.35 a gallon. Resolved Question: RV or pitch the 'ole tent for Bonnaroo '08?

I went last year using a tent and, though it was livable, I went to sleep freezing and woke up in pools of sweat (because of the significant temperature drop at night and the scorching heat of the day). I'm curious as to if it's really worth it to rent an RV. If so, where should I rent one for the cheapest. I'm going with up to 6 girls (possibly more). We'd all split the price, but should we really bother? Should we just suck it up and bring tents?  more

Resolved Question: Is a 1984 Jayco Motorhome with a Chevy 350 engine any good?

How good is a 1984 Jaco Motorhome with a Chevy 350 engine? I am going to look at a used 1984 Jayco motorhome. It has a 350 Chevy engine, 84,780 miles. I don't know if this is a good engine or not. The pictures of the exterior look clean but I haven't seen the inside yet. What questions do I ask other than does everything work? My main concern is the mechanical condition and if these engines and transmissions have had issues. Or, are they the workhorse for RV's. Our purpose is to use it a few times a year for camping within a 500 mile radius of our home. We do not intend on pulling anything with it. I can't find anything on line other than the NADA pricing. Any RV experts out there? Thanks for the help!  more

Resolved Question: I'm considering living in an RV .. Pros/cons ? hidden prices, etc?

Lately I've been thinking it'd be awesome to live in an RV so I can travel, etc.. It'd be just me so I dont have to worry about it being 'over crowded'. Also my parents said I could park in their driveway when Im not on the road, if i just paid to have it widened, so I wouldn't have to pay for a lot. Has anyone ever done this? What are some pros/cons if it's just a single person living in one? What about hidden prices that I might not be considering. I'd still be able to use my parents house for things so if it got a bit claustrophobic, I could escape for a bit...So what do you think? Is it doable if I keep my car to do normal driving in? (due to gas prices). Jennifer, you idiot. Im not poor, and I'd be doing it for fun. Ever priced an RV? Theyre not cheap.  more

Voting Question: What do you do with a RV dealer who won't send a loan through ?

I Bought a Camper from a very reputable RV dealer. I think its the only used camper they've ever sold or tryed to sell. I picked up the camper in August, Signed the first loan contract and bill of sale, didn't hear from them. In Oct. they called and said they had trouble getting the title right and would I please sign a new loan contract. Well here it is in Jan 08' , I haven't heard from them since Oct. They're still in business, I've never heard anyone say anything bad against them on buying a new camper. Would I be in the right if and when they do call back wanting to sign a new contract which will be the 3rd one --- shouldn't I be able to renegotiate the price much lower ? First I'll get them to send me a copy of the title which I haven't seen yet. But is there anything else I should be aware of. I'm sure theres nothing wrong with the title, I just think they don't have a clue on how to sell a used one since they normally don't deal with used. NOw What? I put a deposit down over the phone , but when I picked up the camper, they gave me a check back for the deposit. So I have absolutley nothing invested in the camper. I was gonna continue to use it until something happens good or bad. I have the camper insured.  more

Resolved Question: I this property a good investment or at least not STUPID??

There is a lake resort about an hour from my house, where you can buy rv lots and cabins. The price for the 1 bedroom cabin I want is just under 50k. there is also a $75 monthly "resort fee" added onto the payments (and forever). It is deeded and all that, BUT you can only use it 180 days a year. Which is fine for me, as I just want to use it for weekends and storage. But i don't want to be screwed on it as if it was a timeshare. I can afford it no problem, and would not plan to sell it anytime soon, and if/when I did my intent would be to get a fair price, rather than make money. Is this a smart buy? Im just leery because it seems to good to be true somehow. Thanks to all who answer. Its your the entire year IE nobody else ever uses it you can leave stuff in it etc, but you can only reside in it 180 days (this is pretty common from my research of RV/camp clubs)  more

Resolved Question: Is this legal?

Is this legal? I filled out a cashiers check to purcase a rv that was under priced and told the man who I was in business with to put it in my name and company name. He got it and we used it at work and stuff,we had a falling out and i wanted to sell he tell's me i have no say in it. I run the cashiers check backtracking to find the company that sold it and on the check beside my name as purchaser he put /his name. To my knowledge the rv is in his name only. So question is....can he legally alter my check without my approval? And what options do I have? Some asked how i can prove it and he was just gonna deny it... I have a copy front and back of the cashiers check along with the carbon copy. My carbon copy does not have his name on it however the banks copy does. If he tries to say someone set him up or some bull sh*t story, just have police check to see what name it's registered under. Also, the title does not have my name on it.He was supposed to put it on the title but as i said he took "my"cashier's check that was going to pay for it,then added his name in bottom left corner beside mine like i said my name/his name I did not authorize him to do this. Ok people are reading wrong... I gave check to business partner to take to E*TRADE and pay them for a RV. My name was to go on it and the company name. Instead he put his name on my check and put rv in his name.I do not owe him any money or nothign he altered my check and did not put my name on title as was a part of me paying for the rv.  more

OK, this is an obscure Q, for sure--but we're hoping someone can help. The RV/travel trailer sales industry is a lockstep monolithic throwback. Surely, there has to be one or more maverick dealers who use the tried & true "invoice + %" sales technique...and offers a hassle free sales atmosphere. Resolved Question: Buying an RV as a permanent residence in California during an active Chapter 13 BK?

I am currently in a Chapter 13 plan (since 4/05). I live in CA and have been a homeowner from 1998 till right before filing my Chapter 13 due to an expensive & litigious Divorce. Unfortunately, I am unable to afford a home based on real estate prices in California. I have restablished credit (below the $1000 threshold allowed) & my credit score is 600 which I've been told is very good for an active BK. In regards to taxes, I can no longer claim my kids and I've lost the homeowner's deduction, I would like to purchase an RV as a permanent residence. I have checked with an attorney and a tax advisor who both advise this is a smart move based on my income and tax bracket. The attorney advises that the Chapter 13 Trustee will, most likely, approve this purchase. My challenge is finding a lender that will lend me the money for the purchase that reports interest paid to the IRS. I am looking at a $35000 purchase including tax and fees. I have access to 401k funds for a 30% downpayment on a collateralized loan on a used RV. According to my tax advisor, interest paid on a primary residence (yes, even an RV) has no real limit, so I would be willing to pay up to 25% APR based on my finances and credit history. Any suggestions on lenders, alternative means of financing or am I just plain crazy... In addition I have a free place to park. Includes all utilities free. Does anyone know any 'alternative' finance companies that report interest to the IRS? APR does not matter up to 25%. Based on my income and tax bracket this the best situation for me.  more
