Open Question: baby shower ideas (it's a boy)?

Me and my friend are in charge of the favors, games, and prizes for the game winners for our friend's baby shower. She is having a boy and it is a boy/girl shower. It is estimated that about 50 people are invited. The catch is we want to budget things because food and everything else still needs to be purchased. Does anyone have any ideas for any fun games, favors, and prizes that are not expensive? My idea for a favor was to make chocolate candy lollipops and put ribbon and a tag around the bottom of the wrapping. For a game i was thinking putting a tiny pacifier on a piece of ribbon and make it a necklace when someone says aww or baby the person who catches them takes it, once gifts are done the last person with the most necklaces get a price.(pacifiers are about $6 for 54 of them).Please help me with some ideas. I have a wonderful friend who is expecting a baby. Her mother is already throwing her a baby shower. I wanted to throw her another shower but didn't know quite how to do it. I don't want to be disrespectful and have her family think that the one they are throwing isn't enough I just want to show her I care and this way she will be able to get more gifts for the baby!! She has done so much for me during my pregnancy and wedding events that I want to return the favor. My first question is what kind of party should it be. A pamper the mommy party where everyone just brings her gifts to help her out with the mommy hood transition since this is her first child. I would also need a name for that kind of party to put on the invites. Or should I have a second baby shower or I was thinkin like a pamper day or a brunch or something with a small group of friends...HELP!!! more

I am throwing my husband's aunt a baby shower. I am paying for all the expenses by myself so I am trying to cut costs were needed. The theme is light/dark pink with zebra print. i know i'm only 5 months along and don't plan on having my baby shower until the beginning of august, but i'm starting to think about my baby shower. My mom is throwing the shower for me at her house and we already have an idea on what food we want and the decorations, and the shower favors to give to guest (pink baby foot lollipops, and mint tins). We know we want to do the diaper raffle for people who bring diapers for the big door prize, measure my belly, baby word jumble, no crossing your legs or saying baby, and a candy bar word game (my mom found this one, but idk how to play it yet). What other games has anyone played at a baby shower that they liked? Also gift ideas for the winner of each game? We are thinking about doing 5 games (gift around $5 bucks or so), no crossing legs or saying baby for the whole shower (gift $10 bucks), name chosen in diaper raffle (gift $20 bucks). Resolved Question: M.O.H. M.I.A. i'm outta place?

so one of my close friends/neighbor is getting married next weekend. i am not officially in the wedding party, however i have been there for every step of the planning. the MOH just had a new baby (last week) and has had a tough time with becoming overwhelmed with everything (it's her first). i am understanding of this, however while on her 3 month pre baby mat leave she did NOTHING to help plan the wedding (ie, address invites, make favors, go shoe.jewelry shopping etc withthe bride-all things i did) now that the baby is here, she has made so many appointments and then canceled them last minute. including her dress fittings. now with less than a week to go, she has cancelled the shower she was planning (which was going to be held at my place because hosting it at her's was 'too much right now'.) the bride was very disapointed, so i asked if she would be ok if i threw her one, last minute. she was really happy about it. and very thankful that i stepped up. i got a text from the MOH who is pissed that i overstepped my bounds in planning this shower. she said she was coming but i honestly don't expect her to, so i have found other members of the wedding party (whom i'm also good friends with) who are bringing extra food and drinks (what the MOH said she would help with). i feel bad for kinda getting in the way but i don't want to sit by and let my friend not get a shower with her friends before her wedding. was it wrong of me to do this? also i bought more prizes than i have games, any ideas on some extra games i can throw in? hahaha i thought the 3rd answer was really funny because the bride did ask the moh. to do those things, and she refused. saying it was just too much work... so once again i am in charge of picking up and delivering flowers, and some food and booze (pre ceremony) and then paying all the vendors etc post ceremony. i am understanding that she had a baby, but it's become a crutch for her. more

Ok, I'm having a baby shower in about a week, and i wanted to make some party favors for the guests to take home and was wondering what are some good ideas? The only thing i have thought up so far are just candy in some clear wrapping paper :S i really don't wanna do the picture w/ the guests thing, it's kinda corny (seeing what guests are attending, anyways...we aren't like best friends or anything...it just wouldn't fit the occasion) but what else could i do? i also thought about printing some it's a boy things and stringing them in w/ the ribbon to tie around the wrapping paper. and it's a boy, and it's not a traditional girls only baby shower, there will be guys there too more

Resolved Question: How should I handle this person? (Long but worth reading!)?

I met Anne a few years ago in school. Shortly after graduation and about two months before the fact, she asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. Despite the fact that her wedding was on my birthday weekend, I agreed to help her out since her original bridesmaid backed out at the last minute. She also asked me to pay for the dress which I told her that I couldn't do because I wasn't working at the time. I thought that it was odd that someone would ask me to pay for the dress when I was doing them a favor in sacrificing my time AND my birthday weekend to be a part of their wedding but I let it go. They ended up paying for the dress. Now, I also happened to be in the middle of relocating to another city at the time so in order to participate, I had to fly back. After the wedding, Anne suddenly wanted to move to the same city. Mind you, she never voiced or expressed interest in moving out there but it was whatever. It's a free country, right? LOL... So anyway, shortly after moving out here, Anne found a job and I didn't. My then fiance and I went to visit Anne and her husband at her cousin, Stacey's, house. About an hour or so, the conversation turns to a member of my family, my cousin Janine. I had no idea these people knew my family or anything but out of no where, Stacey says to me: "So how is Janine, you know, the one whose husband beats her." I was shocked. Again, I don't know these people all that well so why would anyone ask a question like that? Then she proceeded to ask about another cousin of mine, Linda. Apparently, Stacey was in a long-term relationship with Linda's husband, Jack, before he met Linda. Stacey proceeds to state that my cousin has no class, this that and the third. Again, I was shocked but this time speechless. How can I visit someone to show a gesture of kindness and this is what I'm getting? Moreover, Linda and Jack have been married for SIX years and have three kids together and Stacey's STILL upset about this? Needless to say, Stacey's still single with no prospects on the horizon and no children. And she's not getting any younger. Also, I mentioned to Anne that I was thinking about going back to get my MBA. Her response was: "Why, aren't you tired of school?" I replied that it was something that I am considering and it doesn't hurt to further your education. About a year goes by and I never hear from this Anne or Stacey until a few weeks ago. Apparently, Anne is expecting a baby and I'm (surprise!) invited to the baby shower. Oh and another surprise? Anne is pursuing her MBA. Now, I've gotten married, had a baby and not a peep from those two. Not even a visit. Mind you, they've never bothered to come visit or even ask if they could come and visit. Do you think I should attend the baby shower? Why or why not? more

Hosting a shower for my sister and want to make it really nice. I am looking for some ideas on Decorations for A Baby is Brewing theme. I already know what the favor is going to be (Coffee mug with coffee packet and chocolate spoon) but need decorations and color scheme. I also need ideas on food, I know there is the usual, Ziti, meatballs, salad etc but I want something different. I am hosting a baby shower for my sister, I want to do a Baby is brewing theme, I already have an idea for the favors (coffee mugs with coffee and chocolate spoons) the invitations had a coffee cup and baby bottle on them and they said a baby is brewing, but I can not think of ideas for decorations to go along with the theme and I can't find them online anywhere. am willing to make them if I could think of some good ideas. help please! I am also looking for food ideas, I am planning on serving Chicken marsala with a simple pasta to go with it but There are going to be about 60 to 65 people, so I need more food than just that. I will also serve salad and rolls. I was thinking of some type of Beef dish. I want to stay away from the traditional foods like Sausage and peppers and Italian meatballs. The guest of the party are all of Brazilian decent, Polish and spanish so i need help with food for this many people that will not break the bank, and yes I am cooking not catering. This is the first party that I will actually be planning on my own without any ones help so I want to make it really nice. I was going to decorate with pretty Gerbera daisies and just keep the colors to pink, blue and green but since we don't know what she is having I don;t want people to think she is having a girl because of all the flowers. I'm trying to reach out to my networks, beyond local friends and family, to donate money for a charity that I'm doing their annual Walk fundraiser. For the local people, I did a bake sale and it was a hit. But somehow I want to offer something fun for the people that donate remotely. I was thinking of saying "I'll send you flowers for your kind donation" and send a TY card with a package of flower seeds with a joke saying "Told you I'd send beautiful flowers, but it takes work to make life beautiful...and it started with your donation. Okay, we have a split family decision. One is to either set up a candy bar area with pink candies and a bag for people to fill with what they like, or to have to bags already packaged so they just grab one. The other is a seed package of May's flower (forgot what it was) in a small flower pot. May daughter is due in May. A few of my family members are throwing it. I'm helping out as well as paying for the favors. I can't take credit for the flower idea. It was a friend of mine. She's a clever one.
